Let’s talk about the Cuddle Curl. It’s not comfortable!

If you’ve made it this far on my website, you’re probably already familiar with the cuddle curl C position for bed sharing. It’s known as a safe way to keep your baby close yet unobstructed from bedding, making overnight breastfeeding easier and naturally protecting your little one. I find it so uncomfortable, I hate it.
I know "hate" is a strong word, but hear me out. I’m not one for constant physical contact; friends have even joked that I have a “black heart,” and my husband often has to request hugs. Don't get me wrong, co-sleeping has greatly improved my sleep (and sanity) but the drawbacks make me wonder, I must not be the only one who doesn’t like this supposedly instinctive sleep position?
Now that my baby is 10 months old, curling around her tiny newborn frame is no longer feasible. She kicks, crawls, and keeps a hand on me at all times—sometimes blocking my nose, which I actually find preferable to her tiny fingers on my chest. I long to be the little spoon in the relationship, curled up in a tight ball and to have my own space after a day filled with being touched. My baby loves to sleep on my chest, and while it sometimes feels like a hot pan on my skin, I face a choice: move her and risk less sleep or keep her close and endure some discomfort. I am literally typing this nap trapped after she has contracted yet another virus from who-knows where.
In search of a solution, I’ve only found suggestions for different positions or pillow adjustments, which led me to start Cocuddles but honestly, I just prefer not to sleep with someone touching me. A good friend once said, “One day it will no longer be cool to sleep with your mum,” and I eagerly await that day. Is anyone else feeling the same?
Rest easy,
